Saint Maurice’s School specializes in two things: producing the next generation of fabric Dyers to serve the Royal family and being the leading cause of deaths each year. With a heavy reliance upon poisons and chemicals to produce the most potent dyes and vivid fabric colors, Saint Maurice’s is the most dangerous place in the otherwise crime-riddled city but, Edwina (Edmund) Turner has no choice but to enter the newest class of hopeful Dyers in order to compete then claim the position as Final Dyer for the royal family to escape her abusive father—trading one poison for another. Inez, Princess of the ruling family, aspires to escape her position as a royal and prove that her life has meaning outside of the court. Disguising herself as the dashing Dorian Sidero, Inez goes head-to-head against Edmund for Final Dyer. Amidst student deaths and excruciating exams, Edmund and Inez must dodge the threat of being poisoned by their classmates...and not fall in love in the meantime.
